Your S.M.A.R.T. Shopping Companion

Your S.M.A.R.T. Shopping CompanionYour S.M.A.R.T. Shopping Companion
A human, not a phone app!

You are well-aware that your grocery bill is costing too much at the store
, but everyone has their likes and dislikes and then there are those must-have items as well. It seems futile to attempt reducing it.

The kids are growing so fast that clothing shopping has become another major dent in the monthly finances, but what can you do?! They have to wear something!

The bills scattered around the table are slowly getting out of hand and your job isn’t giving you a raise any time soon. But it’s all necessary! Isn’t it??

Time to call on the S.M.A.R.T. Shopping Companion!

Marilynn Dawson – PC Repair Tech, Author, Coach, and Single Mom to two young adults, has seriously been there!  Imagine trying to pay the bills, buy the groceries, clothe the kids, keep a roof over one’s head and gas in the car, in a city where it takes TWO incomes to make ends meet!  Or so the saying goes. . . You see, my name is Marilynn Dawson and I learned how to triage the grocery list so basic staples were always in the pantry.  I learned how to assess the real needs around the house to reduce monthly bills for things like Internet, phone, and electricity.  I learned to take God shopping with me, and now I can pass these lessons on to you.  Every home is different.  Templates for time blocking and money management are great, until you discover you can’t fit your life into those slots very well.  Shopping for groceries and clothing are large parts of the household budget while kids are growing up.  Reducing the bills can feel like an exercise in futility.  The stress builds up and spills into other areas of life, such as your time management, which spills right back into your budget because a harried lifestyle tends to cost more to maintain than a calmer lifestyle.  I can attest to this first hand whether dealing with it in my own home, or having to deal with it working for others who never grasped this concept or didn’t care.

You’ll be relieved to know that I CARE!

Let me literally walk you through how shopping is done in my home!

My daughter was telling another young adult about our shopping methods, and her co-worker’s jaw was periodically hitting the floor as they heard the various ways we tackle grocery shopping.  Are you a young adult?  Does shopping for food baffle you as it does this co-worker? Or maybe you’re the single mother with kids growing like weeds.  Maybe you are a young adult single mother with kids growing like weeds!  Reach out to me!

Here’s what you’ll get:

1) A pre-shopping check-in. Here we will go over what you need, why you need it, when you need it, discuss if need is the right word or not, tweak the shopping list, or make one if you don’t normally make one, and prepare to head out.

2) Whether by phone or by video call on your phone, I will “walk” the store with you, guiding you on how my household would tackle that shopping trip. I will explain why certain choices are recommended over other ones, explain the math that saves you pennies per aisle and dollars at the till, or showing how those saved pennies added up to another item on the list being placed in the cart. I’ll teach you the shopping habits that save my household money on every trip we go on!

2.1) If your concerns are with the bills all over the table, I can remote onto your desktop to help you assess your bills, going over what is necessary versus what is wanted and compare those to the income available. We’ll do research together to see if we can lower your essential bills in your area. If gas expenses feature high on your list of bills, we can go over your daily, weekly and monthly schedule to figure out helpful time management tweaks, route tweaks, etc that will reduce your travel expenses.

2.2) If your concerns are around the clothing expense as your kids grow through their clothes several times a year. We’ll assess why the clothes are needed, the types of clothes that are needed, if need is the right word to be used, etc. Again, if you have access to wifi that lets you put me on video call, I’ll take you clothing shopping the way I did for my growing kids.

3) When our shared excursion is finished, we will recap how the trip went. I will point out key wins and issues for that trip and give you time to share feedback, concerns and questions. If I look distracted at this point in our time together, it’s because I am typing it all out as we converse. A summary of our pre-trip, trip and post-trip will be prepared and sent to you.

Sidenote: As many stores frown on their products being video-taped, video recordings of video phone trips will not be provided, out of respect for store policy. If the store you want to shop at allows video recording, please forward that to me from their official email or letterhead so I have it on file before we begin.
